As demonstrated by our infrequent updates, things have been hectic, time's been short and access to the camera when it counts infrequent. Sarah is back in school and running her business. As a result, Scott is getting some quality time at night with Gigi after he gets home from work. And Gigi... well she's on her feet 90% of the time, emulating every sound she hears, popping out teeth like a Chinese toy factory, speaking a fascinating baby dolphin language and sticking every last thing she finds in her mouth. Needless to say her parents are staying in exquisite physical shape chasing her around just trying to prevent her from eating something gnarly she finds on the floor, or slapping the dog.
Greta had her first spin in a pool, courtesy of her Aunt Cathy. She loved it and when we took her back to a pool, she pathetically whimpered and cried when it was time to leave the water. Her dad and her have been taking extensive walks through the neighborhood, exploring local parks and indulging Gigi's growing fascination with fountains. On Father's Day they spent a good chunk of the morning crawling through the grass and gardens of Loose Park. Greta even got to feed the ducks. However, she was a little dismayed as her dad opted to feed the ducks bread designated for her lunch, and she was not sure she was finished eating it.
These shots above and below are from one of the weekend front-porch breakfasts. On this particular morning Greta decided the contents of a potted plant might make a better breakfast. Sarah says she's going through the phase where she empties things out. Her OCD, clean freak daddy is anxiously awaiting the phase where she puts things back after she empties them out... if that is an actual phase. As the pictures suggest she was not too tickled when told oatmeal makes a better breakfast than potting soil.

Isn't is fun to have a toddler!!?? What a busy little girl!
Potting soil...yum! Remember when Eli ate dog hair at your house last year? Good times :)
The screen door pose makes me think of flash dance, is that weird? Well, I've been freaked out by my dilapidated old house lately and I just want to say that if your home is as charming/old (pre-1978) as ours you may want to ask the pediatrician about having Greta's lead levels tested before the routine 1 year mark. Gael doesn't have lead poisoning or anything, but I was shocked to learn his results reflected exposure from somewhere, so to be on the safe side we changed some of our cleaning habits and are carefully planning future renovations (a little OCD around here would have gone a long way). Anyway, I've discovered floor boards and wet mops and suddenly the 'burbs do not look so bad.
